Southern Oregon Film Making and watching movies in
the Rogue River Valley.
Pinto Colvig Pioneer animator, Disney gag and sound man, Bozo. Earle Emlay aka Raoul Marlo. Pinto's mysterious collaborator. Grace's Visit to Rogue River Valley The Rogue Valley's first and oldest film, made and exhibited--despite what every one else says--in 1915. It miraculously survives today. Last of the Wild Horses Made here in 1948. Not great. Canyon Passage Filmed in Southern Oregon in 1945. The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid Filmed mostly in Jacksonville in December 1970. Medford Theaters Medford has had over twenty-six theaters, movie palaces and drive-in theaters. Ashland, Jacksonville, Central Point, Gold Hill and Eagle Point also had movie theaters. Still waiting for anyone to research them. Medford Opera Houses Some actually hosted an opera. Theater People A little about the people behind the movie theaters. There's more, but I'm only one person. The Rogue River Studios Jackson County had its own film studio in the early 1920s--well, part of one anyway. The Copco Films Produced by the California Oregon Power Company in the 1930s. Much of the original film survives, but is only viewable via atrocious copies. |
